We hear a lot about freedom and self determination. So I wonder....

Why is it that those same people who are so all fired up for it, always seem to be on some campaign or crusade to remove other peoples rights to freedom and happiness?

Rights that are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution should be just that.
Sigh....

this got me thinking.... if the USA was really into the freedom of religion thing.. lets change the Pledge of Allegiance in the schools.

One nation under Alla, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all.

One nation under Buddha, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all.

One nation under Killer space rats, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all.

One nation under God, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all.

One nation, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for all.

I guess my point is that if there really is the freedom of religion, then we should be able to adjust some of the things the country does. This way you are allowing that choice.

i totally agree with this, but do you really think that it should be as nit-picky as things like money and the anthemn? or were you exaggerating with that?

i had not thought about the money, but that is a good point.

i don't know where to draw the line or how far to push.

maybe if people were not so sensitive on either side of the religion, not my religion or no religion thing. then we would all be able to get along better. understanding that people have different beliefs and not thinking they are less worthy than yourself because of those beliefs is prob a good first step to making this a better world.

Religion should be reduced to the level of "hobby" and no more than that. Then the people who practice it could just go ahead and the people who criticize it would grow fewer. Rights would prevail.
