why are atheist so obssed with religion?

I don't. I enjoy learning about different things and religion happens to be in the list. It's knowledge, right? I don't believe in God and all that stuff, but I'm open minded enough to listen to someone of a different religion, like Hindu or Shinto or Judaism, not just christianity because when a religious person hears about atheists, they typically thing that they don't believe in the "christian god." As ridiculous as that may sound, I have heard people say this and it's ludicrous. Talk to me about religious traditions any day, but don't even bother to try to shove your (anyone) religious views to my face, cuz I won't buy it. There is a difference.
