When I read this before I though it wanted our ethnic background, so I want to write a few other things. I'm proud that I can easily forgive; I turn into a crazy woman, but then it's over. (I don't forget sometimes, I won't get burned twice) My family gave me a good work ethic and I try to work very hard. When someone needs help, I feel very guilty if I'm not there for them. I've fought my way back from some major health battles, so that makes me proud. My family is unbelievable so they should get the credit.

What is this "pride" in the topic title, and why have it? Is there a reason that one should have "pride" in who one is? Does it help you be a better person, or something? Is it not simply enough to enjoy life just being whoever it is you are?

I have reservations about pride. Sometimes I think that it suppresses humility. I think that the self esteem that it enhances is beneficial. Pride however can create a pedestal on which we stand a little bit above others at times when it is not warranted.
