I've had that before. Most of the time my jaw just makes noise but doesn't hurt, but there have been a couple times where it hurt really bad all the time for a couple months. Not sure what triggered it.

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
Can be irritating, and/or painful. There are rounded bones connecting our lower jaw to our upper.
This rounded bone permits hinge movement of the mandible, or, lower jaw.
With TMJ, it tends to stick, causing pain, or irritation, and often times embarassment, because the clicking sounds can be very loud with some people.

I have known some people with that problem and they had a lot of pain. I am so sorry you are going through that but if you have clicking don't let it embarrass you as there is nothing you can do about it and if anyone is rude enough to say something just tell them the truth and don't worry about it.
