To be fair, carrying knives does tend to be safer than throwing them.

there's a big problem with these kids carrying big kitchen knives and whatnot.
i sometimes have a knife on me if i've been camping recently.

I do not think its safe anywhere anymore. Complacancy is a big problem thinking it will not happen but sadly it does even in the most remote of places. went to Glasgow years ago & judging by what I saw it would not surprise me for violence to happen there way to built up. I then went to the Island Of Islay, much more laid back there, I guess the fact its also a small island means its hardly easy to hide if u break the law! Very pretty there!
