Yes. Very fast.

The problems are:

1) Customer service. They're having growing pains here.
2) When installing FIOS, they cut and remove the copper connection to your home. So no going back to traditional phone service.
3) If you're into HDTV, FIOS apparently does more compression on the video signal than most other carriers, leading to slightly decreased picture quality.

I'm scheduled to be connected this weekend...hopefully everything will turn out okay.

Thanks Jonnythan

I agree with Jonnythan. Their customer service is not fun to deal with. One is lucky to get someone that speaks English, can be understood, and understands what one is trying to say without asking a bunch of stupid questions which have nothing to do with the problem.

Oy.

That's one of the reasons I most like cable service. Their support people are all local.

DSL is a technology to kinda slam broadband speeds over regular copper phone wire.

Verizon is busy replacing a lot of that "last mile" old copper telephone wire run to houses with straight fiber optic connections. The service, which can include internet, phone, and TV service, is called FiOS (Fiber Optic ServiceS).
