Who do ypu think should finace this reseach then? Us poor folk that are sitting at home instead of taking a vacation somewhere. I'm not trying to be rude....just trying to figure out why EXXON (or any of them) can have such high profits, buy back stock and spend less on alternative energy resources. I dunno

It would, but offshore drilling in the US would not increase the world oil supply in any significant way.

IIRC, all of the known offshore reserves in the US combined would be enough for less than a month of use at current rates.

All of the companies and forecasters admit that it will take at least 8-10 years for US offshore drilling to have any impact, and even then it will be negligible.


Isn't that a pesimistic (sp) outlook? What about procativity?
