No links in Posts? Why not?

I have placed a few links in my post for sites that I run or am a member of. But the mods have asked that I place them in my signature. Whatever that is. Why is this? It's my post, shouldn't I be able to place my link on it? You don't have to click on it if you don't want to. What's the deal? Should we be able to place a link on our post? Even if it is self promo?

they meant it so that you could have it as your sig and not have to waste your time doing it the hard way. I'm sure they were only trying to help.

Well it's not a matter of what "we" want, it's up to the site owner, and he has his rules apparently.

It's generally not proper forum etiquette to come to one site and then advertise another. It's also against our ToS.

This is from one of the mods to the question above. "Spam" I don't think so. If i stated the same thing over and over in each post, yes, but if I make a new statement relevent to each post and add my link, that should not be taken as "spam".

Whatever you put in it will appear automatically at the bottom of all your posts without you having to link to anything, so it's easier anyway.

There are instructions on how to edit your signature in the PM I sent you. If you are still confused I'd be happy to try to help you more.

It's because links belong in your signature. It's really annoying when it looks like it's in the rest of the post.
