(among other things you can imagine) for nine hours all i did was puke... then i started to puke only water cuz that was all i was taking in. Now i need to know for the love of god how do i settle my stomach down? i've tried mylanta and i don't have pepto bismol the mylanta helped a bit but i'm still really nauseus. (excuse the spelling) and now im incredibly weak... the doctor isnt an option.

keep drinking fluids, when your vomiting like you have been hun it does drain you..plenty of water will not only flush whatever has made you ill in the 1st place out of your system but wil also re hydrate your body..try eating dry toast, just so it put a lining on your tummy..if you aint stopped being sick in the next 48 hrs then you will have to go visit the doc!

Oddly, try alka-seltzer. Sometimes that works to stop vomiting when nothing else does.

Better yet, complain or contact the health department.

Did you eat any raw tomatos by any chance?

Good point about the tomatoes....hadn't thought of that! They're impossible to get in DC right now (I understand it, but I don't have to like it!)

I did too. Unless it was just something that was really rotten on the pizza , but yeah I thought it took say 12 hours or so.

I can relate to this when I'd eaten bad mayo once

Continue to take in plenty of fluids (not too much as once, but slowly), try gatorade, it will replace the important electrolytes your body has lost..
from there, reintroduce soft foods first to your diet, i.e. soups, mashed potatoes, milk, pudding, etc, because they are easier to digest..
until your body bounces back.

I can really sympathize with you..food poisioning is a living hell to go through..I wouldn't touch mayo again for about 5 years after.

I've just checked a bunch or sites on how long does it takes for food poisoning to take effect and they all came up with much the same answers. "Within 1 to 2 hours and up to 2 days" in certain cases depending on what had been ingested.

And one example was from eating a Pizza, believe it or not.

They strongly recommend that you drink plenty of water to replenish the electrolytes you're losing or have lost due to the vomiting.....
