I hate those trendy places. I look so out of place, half of them don't even let me in! They don't have any decent beer, either.

The only bitter they seem to have is that John Smith's cack that can hardly be classed as a bitter these days.

Give me a Theakston's Old Peculiar from an oak barrel anyday!

I hate them too, one of my favourite pubs was one that used to be packed with Aberdeen fans before each game and it recently got converted into one of those trendy bars. You can't even get in with a football shirt on anymore.

I know what you mean. My favourite pub was called The Tut'n'Shive in Rotherham, used to be a right dive. Springs hanging out of the seats, cigarette ends all over the floor, vomit on the steps LOL, it was a working classed pub!!

They had a lot of Punk/Skin/Mod/Metal/Goth nights there so I was there all the time.

Now, standing in it's place, is one of these trendy la de da toffee arsed, tight nosed places named "No. 10" -- where you aren't even allowed to stand at the bar!

"Excuse me, we have tables for you to sit at"

Excuse me.. give me back my pub !!!!!

Apparently they now want to increase the price of alcohol, again.

Some t*** on tv who's a 'liver specialist' believes alcohol should have a minimum price so that people can't afford to drink as much.

I mean f***ing hell, half my money is already going to the high price of alcohol in this country, the last thing I need is to have to spend more.

It's not wrong to tax the crap out of anything to make it less affordable, is it?

They should tax things that they need to stop selling as much of, not alcohol.

Anyway, this isn't about tax, it's about a minimum alcohol price.

No matter how high the prices go there's always going to be a cheap 'drink'.

welcome to the world of smokers...."they" have been taxing smokers for years and look at what good that did...

raising the price will not help but might make things harder on those that are addicted and that may make them turn to crime to feed their habit

This isn't about taxing. They aren't taxing it, they just want a minimum price for alcohol.

if people want to drink, they will drink, no matter how pricey it is. most of us are aware the damage it will do to us in the long run, but surely its our choice if we want to drink. putting the prices up wont stop us.

Ohhh that different... What the hell are they thinking !! The only thing raising prices will do is make the bar owner or store more profit.
