Hello all,

I am trying arrange a fund raising event for my hockey club but i have no idea where to start dose any one have any sugesttions.

My hockey club is very small and we find it very diffiecult to get sponsored or get funding for us to play, 2e have just been promoted to Divison 1 and woudl like to get some new kit but can't afford it. So i have the idea to raise the money to help out.
But i dont know where to start any suggestion?

When I was younger and I had to do a lot of fund raising for soccer. Here are some of the things we did. I'm not sure how the UK works, but these are pretty popular in the US.

1. Selling candy - I have no idea where we got the candy.
2. Spaghetti Dinners or pancake breakfasts
3. Raffles...we'd get businesses to donate stuff (radios, sweatshirts (mostly from bars/pubs), services, etc) and sell them either at the dinner or breakfast.
4. Most popular are "Beer Busts." This is where you get a bar/pub (not sure if it will work in the UK) to host it, but You buy a keg or two of beer, and some food and charge people like 10 bucks to get in and it's all they can drink. Then do the raffle there. Here they make a lot of money doing that. You buy a keg for 100 bucks then get 30-40 people to show up. You just make 200-300 dollars.

If I am not mistaken you may also need a permit from your city to have a fund raiser, mind you every juristiction is different so it depends on your city and/or state! Best to check with city hall to get all the answers!
