DB and I got our very first STD card in the mail today. I was so happy, especially since it just had the name of the bride and groom and the date. Granted at first glance - we didn't know who the card was for, haha.

Since the wedding is in August in Oregon and we're in Florida, I can definitely start checking out airfare.

The perfect reason for a STD card. Yay for etiquette!

Woo! I have a feeling that Oregon in August will be a lot nicer than Florida. Hopefully the bride and groom will maintain the same etiquette standards... but if they don't, at least you'll be able to share fun stories.

Did they do the most mannerly thing possible and include a gift registry, with an arrow pointing to the thing that you are too purchase???

Not at all! Ever since I've been a member of MM - I've suddenly become much more aware of proper etiquette.

No gift or registry information at all. AND it included DBF's name as well!

I wish that I was as lucky. I recieved a commitment ceremony invite yesterday. When I opened it, two registry cards fell out and NO RSVP CARD!

When DH and I got married we didn't do save the dates, but most of the people were local, and all of them knew when we were getting married. The only people who would need save the date cards were family, and we just sent them a mass email.
It seemed to us like such a waste of money to get save the date cards for only 5 invites (but then we were also looking ahead to the fact we would be paying for moving costs less than a month after the wedding).

I appreciate STD cards for wedding that require travel arrangements. Depending on the time of year, getting time off work for me can be a hassle unless I put in the request over a month in advance.

I second your yay! for etiquette!

Yeah, we started letting people know via email 12 months out because it was going to be a December Wedding (half of the family was going to be traveling in for something else anywas, and with the cost of airline tickets these days. . .). We just didn't see the point in paying for something for only like 5 people. We just sent the invites out extra early instead.

I love getting STDs! I love to plan in advance and shop for the *perfect* gift!

Have fun!

This is why you should use condoms. If you don't, you may get sent one of these cards!

(sorry, couldn't resist)
