The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the sect of the Mormon church that broke off from the LDS church after President Lincoln's army told them change your religious believes of face annihilation. Now 100 years later they are forcing young girls (13 to 16 year olds)to marry their older members have children for them.....

my question...why did the government let this go on for so long?
What happened to child abuse Laws? Just because you claim to be an religion what right do you have to hurt children?

their leader Warren Jeffs has been in jail for the last year or so. lots of people are talking....

But then I guess this is were the Stockholm syndrome comes in.... Think of the damage those girls are going through being taught they are property and that their bodies are for the men who want them.

I agree with Monkeymadness but what about all the young boys that were chased off in their teens.Im sure they told people and these people told ect.
Or the high percentage of women and kids getting welfare in the areas that the Mormon church members lived.
I could be wrong but i saw on tv thats how the men supported their many wifes.

The LDS church has it's own welfare system within the church...You would be hard pressed to find a active Mormon church member on the public dole... and the FLDS do have many wives it is sort of a commune type of life...

ok so they dont use state welfare to support their children and wives,Ok sorry about that.
The CBC program made a big deal on the welfare the people were getting.

I know that to be true for the "normal" LDS church But I don't know about the FLDS church and welfare...

It is my belief (I have never been on welfare)that those that are on welfare have an case worker that goes in and checks on the family...
and if this is true why did it take so long to "check" on these children?

It was on CBC fifth estate about a place called BOUNTIFUL.
I just looked it up.
Wich is not the point of your tread the only reason I mentioned it was how could the goverment NOT know when the were so many supposibly single mothers with so many kids in the area on welfare.

As you just said would there not be people checking on the recipients.

Edit: I just saw this today. https://www.theforumsite.com/forum/topic/Hundreds-rescued-from-breakaway-sect-of-Mormons-in-Texas-sect-ranch/204759

Hundreds rescued from breakaway sect of Mormons in Texas sect ranch

"Authorities describe it as the largest child welfare operation in the history of the state"

"Polygamy is illegal in the US, but the authorities have reportedly been reluctant to confront the FLDS for fear of sparking a tragedy similar to the 1993 siege of the Branch Davidian sect in Waco, Texas, which led to the deaths of about 80 members."
