rover 620 sdi stiff gear problem

can anyone help, i have a 1998 rover 620 sdi its just recently been really hard to get the car into any gear you really have to shove it into gear everything else on the car is fine does any one know what the problem maybe, thanks

Two things possible:
The clutch, if it's standard is on the way out.
The synchromesh in the transmission is worn.
