Not stupid rules. They cant stock out of date food. You and I would be the first to complain if we bought a loaf of bread with yesterdays date on it. Yes in theory its fine, and yes in theory it wont hurt you, but they cant stock it.

Out of date food can harbor posions. If said food is given to a person who already is sick their defense aganist these posions is low and could cause death. Once again leading back to the legal system

Fast Food places here are the worst. They throw complete hambergers, fries etc. in the garbage because they sat under the heat lamp too long. They can't have the mission up the street pick them up for the homeless because of possible lawsuits.

I know, used to be a Manager of one, count the waste and toss it!

To think of all the starving people..................

Our borough council has recently added plastic items to those they collect for recycling. Good, I thought, with the amount of plastic packaging there is.

Wrong! All they will collect are plastic bottles and jars. Any other plastic still has to be thrown in the waste bin as before. I understand this is because there are so many different types of plastic and they can't mix different kinds, but really! Can they not find a way round this?
