I have 1 modem and use the USB cable for it to my pc, can i connect that same usb cable to my laptop at the same time?
Is there some sort of cable with 1 female end (for modem) and 2 male ends (for pc)?

No, you can't do that.

What you want is a router. I can't guarantee that the router will work with your ISP, but a quick Google search for your ISP and the word router should turn it up.

It will almost certainly work and virtually any router will do.

You could even get a wireless router! Just to be interesting and radical.

Or you could just call your broadband company and ask them for a router. . . . just a thought lol.

ISPs in the UK give routers? Most in the US don't, and if they do, they charge some ridiculous monthly fee for it, it seems. A select few have started giving them out as standard equipment.

we had to buy a router.. although that wasn't too expensive. Maybe you could suggest there is a market for that kind of thing, and start making them and selling them and get rich?

although for some weird and zany reason I don't think there will be too much money in that line of work!

you can buy a router independently, or you can buy one from your ISP, or you can rent one from your ISP. When I got mine, I had the option to buy it for $70, or rent it for $5 a month.

can't you upgrade to wireless, then just have both connected though the wireless connection?
