i have a 1 gig mp3 and thats all i need to hell with apple and their useless ipod.
if your ipod goes and its got all your music on it and you dont have any music on your pc because you have put it onto your ipod your screwed but with ones like mine your not as you will have to change the music over every so often.

This is wrong.

An unhacked iPod must be synced with iTunes. iTunes maintains the music library and all music files reside on the PC. A single iTunes library can be synced with any number of iPods.

If the iPod is lost, stolen, or destroyed, all the music stays on the PC. All one has to do is plug a new iPod into the system and it will automatically be synced with the exact same library as the previous iPod.

but what about the variables such as worms *no not the game but their nastier cusions* where you have to format the hard drive or what happened to me a power fluctuation which inturn took out the hard drive and various other parts of my pc

Thats where back ups come in handy

No matter what type of portable media player you have, you're screwed if your hard drive dies and you have no backups.

At least with an MP3 player that's large enough to contain your entire library, you can copy the files back to the PC from the MP3 player after you restore your PC. iPods included.
