Today has been named as World Suicide Prevention Day. All I can say is every one of us should remember that there are consequences for our words and actions and we should all be very aware that something we do or say could be that catalist that pushes someone in need over the edge.

A friend of mine has attempted suicide before now by overdose! thankfully it ddn't work she was taken to hospital. but now most people including her bf's best friends are calling her an insane witch etc!

She still self harms and still has suicidal tendancies!

My mom went through post natal depression after having my sister and tried to commit suicide by hanging, thankfully tht didn't wirk either, but my mom says the one thing that sticks in her mind was at the moment when she was about to do this act.....my sister (who was a baby) smiled!

it was the first time she'd seen my sister smile..and she decided to stsart afresh! and is now leading a happy life!

There are some happy endings to moments like these but we just need to realise that not everyone is happy with their life! some more so than others!

We've just got to give a little light to all those in need and I think this day, if publicised a little more, could hellp!

we canhope

that is uncanny yesterday i posted my poem on youth suicide (please read) and came into this forum tday to start the topic
i didnt know it was prevention day they have not promoted it here and im angry about that australia has a high rate of suicide i live in a small community and within the past ten yrs there have been 8 suicides that i can recall at the moment and numerous attempts five of the suicides happened in the last three years three women -two of those had young kids, an older man and a young lad it has no boundaries and is increasing

I think that this day (the World Suicide Prevention Day) is a great day that exists.
I think that people should look out more for people that are having troubles.
Not many people pay attention to all that.

Thanks.

Most people who 'attempt' suicide are attention seekers and should be ashamed. I feel sorry for the people who really need help

I think that it's not "most people", I think that there probably are a lot of attention seekers, but not most people that attempt it are.

I've lost 2 family members this way. And they definately meant business, no cries for help there.
