Must admit i winge about the company. i hate it when initiatives are rolled out, they dont work, but yet are followed throw losing alot of money. Then they blame the staff for not hitting there target. that annoys me..

It all depends what type of people you are hiring

I agree with angel, students dont care about progression - they are using it as a funding appliance. They dont wanna spend the rest of thier lives there.

I need the flexible hours. For now I have to be the one to get my sisters off to school and not too many employers in this area are willing to not only work around that, but also my class schedule.

Some people aren't interested in progressing, they want a safe, secure job that they can do with minimal effort and stay well inside their comfort zone. People choose this route for a number of reasons in my experience. Some people just can't handle the stress of competition in the work place. Some people have a family to care for, and can't take on extra hours or risk that promotions sometimes carry. Some people just genuinely don't care about the job, and just want something to pay the mortgage while they go mountain biking or indulge in some other hobby. Some people are even just working to fund a fledging career in acting, painting, writing, etc... Don't be too quick to judge people without understanding their motivations.
