For my smoking friends and none smoking tolerent friends everywhere! Please be aware that s severe infingemnt of civil rights is about to take place, so we should all help each other in coping with the smoking ban that is being imposed on us from July the first!
Firstly I should like to offer some very practicle advice to smokers in regard to smoking outdoors! the all new "smoke police" will be everywhere!!! and will be more than happy to oblige with a 50 quid fine if you drop your butt in the street!! (wonderfull way for loacl councills to make more money!!) SO DONT LET THEM!!!! carry a PERSONAL ASHTRAY!!! I have one and they can be bought very cheeply from ebay!!! Mine fits in a small pouch in my handbag but could easily be carried in a jacket or a back pocket! If you dont have a personal ashtray and your in the street, please remember to stub out you ciggie on a nearby litter bin!! Secondly, if your sat in an outdoor space, smoking, and someone sits next to you and begins to fake cough, and wave their arms about, protesting ... politly ask them to move away!!! They have chosen to sit in your "smoking space" so its thier choice! the same goes for walking in the street! Sadly it has become comman place for strangers to verbally abuse smokers (this has happened to me) so just walk away and ignore them! Dont lower yourself to their pathetic standards!!
For year now the watchword has been "passive smoking" So lets turn this on its head, and let smokers offer PASSIVE RESISTANCE!!! to this Nazi style law!!!! If you really dont want to stop smoking, then DON'T!!! stopping smoking just becuase this law has come into force will not work! To stop smoking you must be throughly commited and have the help and support of your GP.
If you want to take action in a positive way, consider joining F.O.R.E.S.T. chaired by celebrity chef Anthony Worral Thopmson!!! Also later this year sees the launch of the worlds first all SMOKING AIRLINE! SMINTAIR (smokers international) with flights from Dussledorf in Germany, to Tokyo, and maybe other far east destinations ... however, the airline will be boycotting the UK because of the new non smoking legislation!
Lastly I would like me ask my smoking and smoke tolerent friends, if you have the names of any local "smoke police" in your area, please email me at @hotmail. com">vixtravels2 @hotmail. com with thier information! It is my intension to publish a list of these people on a website so as to name and shame them to family and friends, and so that everyone everywhere knows exactly who thier local smoke police is! Remember your local council is training these sad people with nothing better to do, NOW, AND IN SECRECY!!!!!!
On a final note I would like to add, please abide by this new law, never smoke near children, and if your unsure as to whether or not you can smoke in any area, always ask first!! Please obey the new non smoking law or it could cost you dearly ... and make certain smoke police very happy!
PASSIVE RESISTANCE AND HAPPY SMOKING!!!

its worked out really well over here
i've always been indifferent to smoking.
but i can't say that the benefits havn't become obvious to me.

our smokers are content with the law, it just makes sense.

the govt make this big deal on banning where to smoke and making them feel liek lepers, but theyre still willing to sell them, for obvious reasons.
ive always smoked away from people, at bus stops i'll stand outside away from them. and yes i hate the ones who stand by me waving their arm in the air. if they comment i tell them, you stood next to me knwoing i had a cigarette so go away.

i dont mind the new rules, but i dont see why they cant accomodate for both smokers and non smokers in bars etc.
i love a smoke with my alcohol, so much so that i coudlnt be in a nightclub and not smoke at all, tbh if i had to go outside i'd be out there most of the night as i smoke more when im drinking.

the non smoking areas of places has always been daft, smoke wafts! i see no reason why they coudlnt have just sectioned of the areas so the smoke cant get through.

its all well and done banning it everywhere so non smokers have their free choices but ppl have the right to smoke as long as the fags are on sale. it should be equal.

where i work smoking is banned on the entire premises, this means i like others, have no place at all to smoke on our fag breaks. i smoke out the back of my shop, its a condensed alley where no one else is or goes. its ridiculous.
but i do think its good and i have no problem with it, just think it could be done fairer.

i think from my experience this is a good step,
after years of increasing tax in the pretense of discouraging smoking, its finally an active, practical and functional way of doing it.
plus it is neccessary, simple scientific fact shows how second hand smoke can affect the people around you.

yasee, i say this as someone who never minded smoking, i still don't, i spend my time out in the beer gardens cause my friends smoke. people can be idiots about it *pretend cough* lol

but smokers can be idiots about it too, blowing smoke around as if it has no negetive effects, people who are sensitive to smoke can now go to irish pubs and i'm happy about that.

Here are the laws in canada about smoking

Canada leads in protecting nonsmokers.
Provinces and territories which ban smoking in the workplace, including restaurants and bars: BC, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. Quebec adopted a similar law which goes into effect May 31, 2006. Ontario casinos go to smokefree by end of June, including First Nations casinos.
Submissions are still welcome; change does not happen overnight. Venues which lead by example deserve our business.

Oct. 2004: Manitoba and New Brunswick have banned smoking in all public places, including pubs and restaurants. (Does not apply on First Nations land.)
A similar ban is to begin in Saskatchewan in January 2005.
Spring 2002: Newfoundland bans smoking in restaurants. Jan. 2002: British Columbia bans smoking in restaurants; the city of Victoria BC led with a ban in restaurants since at least 2000.
August 2001: Ottawa, Ontario banned smoking in workplaces and public places (including bars, bowling alleys & other fun places).
June 2001: Toronto banned smoking in restaurants and bowling alleys. Bars, bingo & billiard halls, casinos and racetracks get three years to phase in a ban.

And a link that shows other provinces
