The OP makes some very good points and arguments, but has incredibly poor rhetoric skills and would never convince anyone. Jimi Hendrix really wasn't that good of a guitarist and by today's standards is just plain bad. He was less innovative and more of a popularizer of obscure technique for the time. But on the other hand, I think shred guitarist are overrated as well. For me, playing skill is meh, composing skill is the biggie. And shredder's cant compare to the old masters (Bach, Beethoven, etc) at all while Hendrix writing, not mention vocals, are poor and bland. Too many people here are way too conservative. If you ever find yourself saying things like "best ever period" and "didn't even read cause you're just wrong" then you are a slave who didn't think through whether said person was the best, you just took it on because of popularity. Who are the best then? Probably people whose names died away, unknown and loved by none or few. A romantic who plays to the trees such pieces of ponderous beauty, that a cynics' hair will rise, eyes will tear, and hearts go forth on the emotional journey that only perfect music can bring. I wonder if some of you have even heard music. Your ears are as good as deaf if your heart is mute.

In fact, the OP should be stoned.... with hemp... and maybe little tiny LSA pills.
