I knw a lot of guys who would claim never to cry and I believe that it's their insecurity that makes them build this screen around them.

I think it's good for a guy to show his emotions and I alays cry at funerals for example. Even if I'm not very close to the person who has died I would be thinking of loved one's that have died.

What do you think?

I think it's perfectly acceptable for men to cry. I think it's great to see a man whose so in touch with his feelings that he can cry. It must be hard to have society impose the real men don't cry thing on you. A good cry can make you feel so much better. Real men cry!!!

Society has been telling men for ages not to cry because that won't make them "tough" like men are apparently supposed to be. Men should be able to cry and not care what the world thinks. I think that makes them a lot more manly.

I think men have a better grip on thier emotions than us women but i think anyone who supresses them to the point where they "never" cry must have have some kind of screwed up childhood

i think men don't like to show how emotional they are , maybe because they think that would be humliated for their manhood.
i believe it isn't shame for men to cry on the contrary it is natural thing.
crying or weeping is natural feeling , doesn't have the gender.

Real men cry, but not often. Usally they cry when they're really angry or very
emotionaly hurt. Just because they're tough and hot, doen't mean they don't
have emotions.

It's all society's fault, as forget_about_me said.

Men are told in modern society to not cry. Men grow up believing that crying is not what men should do. It's as simple as that.

Society has people convinced that "real" men don't cry. That's bull. I think it's perfectly acceptable for men to cry. I'm not saying that men (or women for that matter) should be emotional messes, crying over every little thing, but tears can be good for the soul!

Think about it...there are events in life that are just worthy of tears. My dad doesn't cry a lot, but there are three events that really stand out to me when I saw my dad cry. When my great-aunt (who was more of his mom and my grandma) died; when we were reunited with my sister after he hadn't seen her in almost 30 years; and at his retirement party when I got both of my sisters into town for the first time in several years. Now, he didn't cry a LOT at the party, but he got misty eyed...he was happy to have all three of his girls together.
So yeah, real men can cry and still be real men.
