menu on the front page

before the site was rejigged, the arrows in the menu section used light up orange if there were new posts in a particular forum, and this caught my attention for the forums I post in regularly. This seems to have stopped now, since the site was updated. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed them or used them but is there a way they can turn on again as such??

The only orange tab I get is when there is a new PM for me.

I also never 'subscribe' to threads, so that might be why I dont get any other nice orange tabs - do you think that might be why?
