Look, if my dog was very sick or injured, was in pain and I wanted to relieve his pain, I'd put him out of his misery.
But not by my own hands. I couldn't. I'd take it to the vet.
If given the circumstances, and a vet was out of the question, I'd do it myself.

Can't help it. I was raised to believe critters don't belong in the house. I'm notorious for hating animals in the house. I seldom visit houses with animals in. Never more than once.
