When someone tries to have an advantage over another by using their race as an excuse. Thats the best way I can explain it.

So it's like when a white man asked Rosa Parks to give him her seat on a bus, because he was white? Was he "playing the race card"?

No that's being racist, playing the race card is the whole "Is it because I'm black?" thing

It's more like when people are accused of being racist they 'use the race card' and say 'I'm not racist, I'm just being victimised for being white'.

So let's say a black woman asked for a white man's seat, and the white man refused, then she accused him of being racist, then she would be "playing the race card"?

I think it's more like accusing people of victimising them due to their race. I was on the train once and the conductor asked to see this guys ticket (he was black) he couldn't find it so the conductor said he had to buy another to which the black guy responded "You're only doing this because I'm black"

The conductor ended up letting him off because of it, personally I would've replied "No, I'm doing it because you don't have a ticket". But that's just me

Okay, now I get it.

So how have the US Democratic Party been "playing the race card", as the Rupublican Party has claimed?

So, just being black is enough to be accused of "playing the race card"? That's a bit weird.
