I don't consider any sort of art or preforming art degree pass by degrees. They take a lot of hard work, dedication, it's very competitive and they do have exams and dissertations to write just like everyone else.

What I do consider pass by degrees are when people take the easiest route possible. Like simply being a business major instead of specializing or focusing in one or two concentrations that is more relevant. So basically they're getting a general overview of a few different fields but never studying it enough to where they can actually get proper skills.

I do get pissed off at those people that complain about those classes being hard. They're graduate classes are MY undergrad class and I'm like seriously?

I do know that War Studies is supposed to be quite popular for some reason, I can't quite see what use that would be outside of university.

Well when your wanting to raid the local supermarket or raid your neighbors an efficient war strategy will make the difference.

Personally at the moment I could do civil engineering or IT studies at University. But I'm going to a senior school if you can call it that instead to get higher grades to go to medical school. It will be interesting for once to see what I score when I actually study.

Before you bash a degree, take a hard look into what it takes to get one and what one learns in the process. I've found, in time, that the degrees and programs I thought were silly or a waste of time were in fact interesting and often as difficult as "real" degrees such as those in science.

English?

I only say that because that is what my degree is in and people give me a hard time about it. Plus the fact that I work in IT.

I had a friend that was studying zoology. Now in all it can be a very good course for someone wanting to go down that route, but the only reason my friend did it is because he didnt want to get a job, went all the way through the Uni prospectus and couldnt find anything he wanted to really do, so he just went for the last course he read about!! now that is stupid!!

Perhaps I should have said "waste of time" rather than "pointless"...

Pretty much every college class I ever took could fit that description and be called "mickey mouse" I guess. I've never taken anything for any useful purpose, all stuff like history, psych, lit/writing, artsy-fartsy stuff, etc. I've only taken classes that I would find enjoyable, and none of them had any real purpose. I never even got any kind of degree.

All a total waste of time, and yet one of the best ways I've spent my time.

As an A-Level, I'd say General Studies, not sure if there is a degree in it!

Critical Thinking was certainly very pointless at the time I studied it. The annoying thing is, since coming to university I have used it loads- glad I paid attention now.

So in that sense it wasn't really a waste of time then. If you enjoyed it then that should make it worthwhile in itself.

I, personally, didn't consider it to be waste.

This is why I said its entirely my personal opinion. Its a bit like in The Simpsons when Bart watches a film in school about what would happen if there wasn't any Zinc.

I would soon be saying "come back art, all is forgiven"

Hah. In reality, Disney has astonishingly strict requirements for employment and conduct. They are famous for being extremely selective (apparently they have many, many, many times the applicants necessary to fill jobs) as well as enormously strict on conduct and dress code. You can't even have visibly dyed hair, wear a watch if your costume doesn't dictate it (absolutely no Ironman watches when you're working at the Tower of Terror - they didn't exist in the time period), have long hair if you're male, etc. Touching your ears is considered long.

Oh, and they just recently started allowing men to have mustaches.... as long as you never show up for work with an in-progress 'stache. It needs to be fully grown by the time you show up, or while on vacation.

I can absolutely understand why they would be strict on conduct. Thinking about the experience through the eyes of a child, one who has visited crappy santas, I can also appreciate why they are strict on appearance too. I mean they are literally selling a fairy story.
