I love this argument.

It's the same as "the Einstein argument". Sure I'm bad at math, but Einstein was bad at math!

The problem is that the implication is that being perceived as a crackpot is in reality an indication of genius.. but, in reality, being perceived as a crackpot almost invariably means that.... you're a crackpot.
