I mentioned the ignorance (or wilful lying) of the media. I heard one US media pundit refer to the Commonwealth Realms as "English colonies". No they're not. They are fully independent countries. The same commentator (and many others) claimed that the Monarchy was built on the slavery of "black and brown people". Another lie. As a matter of interest King George III wrote a letter strongly condemning the practice of slavery back in the 1750's. Furthermore he never owned a slave nor invested in any company involved in the slave trade. George III of course was King when the "Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade" was passed into law in 1807.

Well the first ads for "the voice" are out and no surprise they play like a CCP propaganda piece. So aboriginal people don't have a say in how our country is governed? Really? How is that exactly? After all they have the right to vote and to support whatever candidate/party on the ballot paper that they choose. Just like every other Australian. They have the right to stand for public office. Just like any other Australian. In fact there is nothing that other Australians can do that aboriginal Australians can't...

Really sad news out of Queensland. Just shows how potentially dangerous policing is.
