Does every angle have a supplementary angle and a complementary angle?

Seems to me for any angle A there exists a

180 degrees - A

and a

90 degrees - A

as long a 180 > A > 0.

Would A = 361 degrees have supplementary and complementary angles?

A 361 degree angle? As in a complete circle plus a 1 degree angle.

Seems to me for any angle A there exists a

180 degrees - A Only true for angles less than 180 degrees.

and a

90 degrees - A Ditto, for 90 degrees

as long a 180 > A > 0.Yes, for supplementary angles. 90 > A > 0 for complimentary angles.

Would A = 361 degrees have supplementary and complementary angles? In the strictest sense, no, by definition. But you can say that 361 degrees is equal to 1 degree, which of course has a supplementary and complementary angle.

In my first thought, I thought that angles of 181 or 361 degrees should have a supplementary angle of 179 degrees. I don't know why not.

It reminds me of how my geometry text defined trapezoid as having only two parallel sides. The teacher said that in his class a trapezoid has at least two parallel sides. He wanted parallelograms to be trapeziods in the same way that rectangles are parallelograms.

I guess so. And I guess angles can be negative too. What do I know? It’s been 30 years since I last took a math course.

I read last year that 2 + 2 might not equal 4.

I can see how 10 + 10 can equal 100 for computers?

Or 11 + 2 can equal 1 on a clock.

Or pi + pi can equal zero on a circle.

Or 19 + 01 = 1,00 for Mayans.

Even that 2 + 2 could equal 22, but not 4.
