ANZAC Day

I saw a kid marchin’ with medals on his chest.
He marched alongside Diggers marching six abreast.
He knew that it was ANZAC Day - he walked along with pride.
He did his best to keep in step with the Diggers by his side.

And when the march was over the kid was rather tired.
A Digger said “Whose medals, son?” to which the kid replied:
“They belong to daddy, but he did not come back.
He died up in New Guinea on a lonely jungle track”.

The kid looked rather sad then and a tear came to his eye.
The Digger said “Don’t cry my son and I will tell you why.
Your daddy marched with us today - all the blooming way.
We Diggers know that he was there - it’s like that on ANZAC Day”.

The kid looked rather puzzled and didn’t understand,
But the Digger went on talking and started to wave his hand.
“For this great land we live in, there’s a price we have to pay
For we all love fun and merriment in this country where we live.
The price was that some soldier his precious life must give.

For you to go to school my lad and worship God at will,
Someone had to pay the price so the Diggers paid the bill.
Your daddy died for us my son - for all things good and true.
I wonder if you understand the things I’ve said to you”.

The kid looked up at the Digger - just for a little while
And with a changed expression, said, with a lovely smile:
“I know my dad marched here today - this is ANZAC Day.
I know he did. I know he did, all the bloomin’ way”.

With Covid-19 restrictions easing just a little i took the chance to go for a drive with the misses. Enjoyed the sunshine and a bee sting in the park. Was just nice to be finally out of town.

Over the past decade or so we have become way too reliant on China as an export market. China's using this fact to bully us for simply asking for an independent inquiry into all matters Covid-19. We need to take this opportunity to radically overhaul over foreign ownership laws and encourage export businesses to diversify.

On China and it's no surprise that the usual figures on the Left are blaming our Federal government for China's appalling behaviour towards us. No surprise either that the treasurer in the Socialist state of Victoria is one who blames our government for China's actions.

Wow. So the Andrews government is borrowing a further 25.5 billion dollars but won't tell us from who.

Hmmm. The Queensland premier turns a blind eye to 30,000 people gathering and breaking all lock down rules, and then announces plans to allow flights in from NZ but not from anywhere in Australia. WTF

Yes, I've been seeing some of the news about the rain / flooding.

We see that problem (drivers) on this side of the equator too.
They push the phrase "Turn around. Don't drown"

Yeah it's frustrating. Sometimes out bush you have to cross rivers or creeks. When we do we always get out of our vehicle first and walk through the area where we intend to cross. Then you see some from the city simply drive across with no attempt to gauge the variables.

Anyway, according to the radio, so far in NSW alone there have been over 800 people rescued from vehicles that have been caught up in flood waters.

Some parts of the east coast have received their heaviest rain fall in nearly 100 years.

Here we say something similar. It should be CDF.

The east coast of Oz isn't a great place to be at the moment if you don't like spiders...

It really is shameful that up to 100k people may be allowed to watch a game of footy on ANZAC Day whilst only a few thousand vets will be permitted to march.

Dutton has done the right thing in over ruling Angus Campbell's outrageous decision to strip honours from around 3,000 servicemen who served between 2007 and 2013. Now he needs to remove Campbell from his post.

And finally the PM has announced a Royal Commission into veteran suicides. This should have happened years ago.
