I like the look of Cam Green. Would be highly unlikely but I don't mind the idea of Wade opening with Green coming in as the all rounder. Very much doubt that will happen but if Green's form continues the pressure to select him will only get greater. The only way to know if he is up to test cricket is to give him a go.

Can't ignore the form he has been in, has to play surely.

I'm a fan of Burns but the form his been in he can't play but suspect he will, If I were picking the side with Warner out and possible Pucoski as well now I'd be going Harris and Maddinson.

I agree re Burns. It tough watching a good player so out of form.

What a session. At one stage India lost 5/4 in less than 6 overs. Hazelwood was sitting on 5/3.

Starc bowled without much luck but unlike India who were (i thought) too short and wide early on the Aussie bowlers pitched the ball up and attacked the stumps. The ball was swinging and seaming just enough to be of concern to the batsmen who were being required to play at almost every ball. It was just relentless pressure.

In the end the Indians were bowled out for 36. Their lowest ever test score. The only thing that could have made the session better would have been if Cummins had taken a 5 fer and if we were playing the poms. Still, bowling India out for 36 was pretty sweet.

Good to see Pucovski finally given a baggy green. He had a little luck but he looked at home against a strong bowling attack.

A really poor shot by Wade has changed the balance of this third test. His dismissal, just before the new ball was taken, exposed Green who fell without scoring. The current partnership btw Smith and Paine is crucial if Australia is to get around 400-450 which looks like a par score.

I really reckon the lbw law is absurd. There was a recent shout against Paine who shouldered arms to a delivery that struck him outside the line of off. The ball came back and would have gone over the stumps had it not hit Paine's pad. Now this is where the absurdity comes in. As a batsman you make a decision as the ball is released as to what action to take. You pick up the speed, line and length of the ball and decide how you will play the delivery. If you decide to try and hit the ball with your bat but the bowler's delivery is too good and the ball would have hit your stumps had it not hit your pad you can't be given out if the ball strikes you outside the line of off. If however you decide that the best course of action is to get your bat out of the way but the ball does more than you think it will and it was on line to hit the wickets before hitting your pad then you can be given out even if you are struck outside the line. How does this make sense? In both instances the batsman is making a judgement call and deciding how best to play the delivery, and in both cases the bowler has beaten him and yet in one instance the batsman is out and in the other he isnt.

Smith out for 131. Australia 338. It's a below par score and so it's now over to the bowlers.

Day 1 belonged to Australia but day 2 has definitely belonged to India up to this point.

Hats off to India. The pitch didn't deteriorate as expected on the last da and still offer consistent bounce. That said, with all they had going against them it was a fine performance by the tourists. At one stage they were actually on track to win.

So much now to play for at the Gabba. I can't see two successive draws happening unless rain plays a significant part.
