Tonight we have mostly been watching Muriel's Wedding.

Lovely Toni Collette had to put on more than 15kg to play the part of lonely Australian ABBA loving social outcast Muriel, who steals money from her parents to finance a holiday in Bali where she hopes to find happiness and hopefully, love.

Instead, she meets up with an old school friend and they form a friendship that challenges her ability to cope with complex relationships.

OK, so this is a pure chick-flick. One really for the girls to hunker down and feel for the poor woman as we pass the box of maltesers between us. But it has its moments of high humour among the pathos such as the moment Sophie Lee's Tania character lets it "accidentally" slip among the b****es that Pippa Grandison's Nicole sneaked off to screw with groom while his bride was circulating at the reception on her wedding day. Ooops..!!

While Muriel and Tania perform a Karaoke act in a talent show, we see Nicole sitting morosely at the fringe of the group and sporting a really sore looking black eye. It doesn't end there though.

If there's one thing that women take vindictive delight in seeing in a movie, and that's the slut get her come-uppance.

Toni Collette as you've never seen her before. Or since. Cue b**** fight.....

I have seen the movie twice. I enjoyed the movie.

If I remember right, in 90's, that the first time, I saw her. I have been a fan of her for a long time.

Midnight Sky

...several familiar storylines stitched together.

By the end I couldn't tell if was David Letterman was doing stand-ins for some of the scenes
