So, on voting... and I think I've said this before...
I think that voting (in the USA) should be mandatory for citizens.
You get (in any election) essentially three options: A, B, "I don't care". But you have to vote.
Not voting should be a violation of the law.
What might the penalty be? Here are a few, just a few, of my options:
> You must prove you voted when filing taxes, so get a fine if you don't vote.
> You must prove you voted when filing taxes, so you also loose any potential tax refund.
> Your passport gets revoked.
> Your driver's license gets revoked.
> Your auto mobile tags get revoked
> Any federally funded program access gets revoked.
> Any Social Security Account related payouts get suspended.
Basically, if you want to continue being a citizen of the USA, you have to vote... again option A, option B, options "I don't care".
Yes... initially there would be a period of transition (mostly for the very old)... growing pains...
And, yes... the details need to be worked out... "the devil is in the details".
