Isn't this the fibonacci sequence?

It has a Fibonacci feel about it, but Fibonacci numbers are the sum of the two previous numbers, rather than the average of the two previous numbers.

The thing, which I think is kinda cool, is that the sequence converges to one-third of the the first number as long as the second number is zero.

With a compass and straight edge, the result is a trisection of an angle.

Probably Euclid would not agree, maybe Archimedes would.

So, in your Star Trek episode, the computer on board the Enterprise would have a virus, which would change the PEMDAS rules?

Actually I think it would be funny to have Spoke (for some inexplicable reason...maybe a Vulcan virus that messes up his logical thinking...) forget the order of operations, and be corrected by Dr. McCoy thus saving the Enterprise.... the grin on Dr. McCoy's face would be priceless... of course Capt Kirk would be giggling as he walked away...

Counting down from infinity.

Maybe not as a measure of magnitude, but as a difference between two countdowns from infinity.

An infinity minus a finite number is an infinity, at least I think so.

The difference between two infinities could be zero depending on the magnitudes of the infinities. Some infinities are bigger than others.

infinity from NOW forward and from now backward forward. ...from now larger ...from now smaller.

That fits right in with:

Everybody is equal.
It's just that some are more equal than others.

You are unique.
Just like everybody else.

Time is probably finite.

Numbers are imaginary, and people are real, so I wouldn't make that comparison.

Kurt Gödel, a close friend of Einstein, came up with a theory that Einstein said he could not disprove... which theory indicated that time did not exist.

I over simplified that.

Goebel's "Friday Night Case" will make you wish time didn't exist on Saturday morning.

I somehow got the idea that time was a measurement.

Yes, “time” as a human construct is a measurement.

But in the sense of physics... space-time theory... Kurt Gödel‘s position was that time does not exist, and Albert Einstein both disliked Gödel‘s theory and stated he could not refute it.

So, Interestingly enough, if time as we “know” it does not exist, then time travel (both “forward” and “backward” in “time”) is not just feasible, but likely...

Yes... I way over simplified that...

Perhaps one should read Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse five”... or not...
