How do you define prayer

In a special sense I say prayer is a conversation between a person and God.

In a broader way, a prayer could be an utterance from the heart, a longing, a plea, bargaining, something like that.

I cast Harry Potter spells on people all the time... its my version of praying for them.😎

It also helps me cut back on dropping the "F bomb".

My go-to spells are "Expelliarmus" and "Petrificas Totalus"... though I've been known to throw about "Sectumsempra" randomly at anything and everything.

I also like one of my Grandfather's prayers... "Devil fetch it!".

I was totally entertained by Johnny Cash's "Damn Your Eyes"

I haven't bothered to look up it's origins, yet. (if any)

I’ve only seen a couple of the movies — so not an expert.

Is this what you think prayer is?

A call to a greater entity for assistance ... Yeah.

An honest prayer is as a whisper in a closet, in a dark room, in a vacant house, in the dead of night... to god... simple, direct, without expectation.

Once in a blue moon a prayer is a loud cry to god, perhaps accidentally in front of a multitude, but without awareness of any witness(es)...

A prayer is selfless.

Otherwise it is nothing more than human complaint.

On must be honest as God already knows the intent... long before you do.

some sort of intellectual interaction with a God.

Religion, if I understand correctly, is the acceptance of an object of worship. Prayer is a deliberate attempt to interact with that object of worship.

What do you think?

The intellect is different than the will and mind. Sometimes prayers don't have words.

Almighty and eternal God,

those who take refuge in you will be glad

and forever will shout for joy.
