This should actually be very worrying for Americans, sadly its something many Trump supporters almost take pride in. They think Trump is hated internationally because he's putting 'America First'.
But no, its more that the US has lost it's "street cred" internationally for a long time now, I first felt it with Bush but under Trump its ten fold.
Basically Trump isn't taken seriously internationally anymore, deals with him are not worth the paper they're written on, nobody cares what he says in a meeting because he doesn't seem to grasp very basic ideas and if you get his name on an agreement or deal he could easily withdraw on a whim.
This idea of the US flipflopping to extremes is really damaging, even the next Dem president will find it hard to make deals and treaties and agreements. Everyone knows theres a powerful right wing clamouring now to tear them up in 4 years.
The US is unstable right now and other countries are coming together and forming unions and partnerships without them.
If the US has lost "street cred" (I think that will happen when Russia and China no longer use US Dollars to purchase oil) this may be a relief.
It could be time for Superman to hang up the cape. Let the other NATO allies pay their fair share or pick up the slack for the US.
Not too bad a deal.
