Pretty funny in a very sick sort of way.
So, most of the illegal immigrants coming to the southern boarder know the basics of U.S. immigration law. Specifically that if they get arrested & claim asylum the U.S. legal system kicks in... which can literally take years. Thus they get, or at least think they are getting, their proverbial
foot in the door.
(Side note: There are a lot of flaws to this sort of thinking, but it is what it is.)
So what Chaski?
The "so what" is the the vast vast majority of people coming across the southern boarder actually want to be arrested. They are literally walking across the border and turning themselves in. However misguided, they are for the most part being peaceful.
(Side note #2: The ones not being peaceful are the same kinds of people who show up at virtually every peaceful protest and try to incite others, including the
authorities, to do stupid s***.)
"We" can call it an invasion all we want, but it is
not an armed and dangerous army nor insurgency.
Armed U.S. troops would do nothing but potentially provoke the situation into violence.
One
bad egg does something (which happens all the time) and/or one
good guy makes a poor judgement call (which happens all the time) and the results look like the[1] Kent State Shooting on steroids.
I believe that is this is actually what Trump wants... a humanitarian crisis situation turned into a violent melee, so Trump can point to it and shout
See! I told you MS-13 is attacking us! We need a massive wall... The Democrats caused this... they are trying to bus gang members into our Beautiful country.... We need a big beautiful wall....
And people will swallow that dog s*** like it is plate of sweet and delicious cookies.
Please do not let facts and sanity get in the way of this administration's penchant for gaslighting.
