My cousin hunts with hounds and has since he was a teenager. He has had his hounds injured by bear , mountain lion , once one was gored by an elk . but most times the dogs will tree the wild animal and wait for my cousin to come dispatch the treed animal with a well placed shot.
Once him and his hounds got separated and he got treed by a bear .
But he was very young and that's a different topic.
The statement " Why not let the dogs do what dogs do best eh?" Isn't the way it works generally . When a dog makes a kill, it gets a taste for blood and is
pretty much worthless as anything but a killer of warm blooded creatures be it human or animal.

The applicability is that Ramsay hunts with vicious dogs.
.. hunts humans.
And sometimes just feeds people to them.

And let us not forget he ended up fed to his own dogs.

I know you weren't talking about treeing elk, but (being a bit off) I could help letting that image in...

So, of course I googled it... and got a picture of a drunk elk (moose in the USA & Canada) in a tree.

So, you're saying when a dog figures out how awesome hunting really is, they never go back.

Oh, and it looks like this has been going on for a while
