I think it came in several colors.
The whole thing is getting a bit ridiculous. Soon anything black will be protested. Why does white always go first in chess?
It’s a disservice to minorities too, because it waters everything down. It will now be a lot easier for real racists to do their thing because they know they will just be lumped with all this shoulder shrugging BS.
the shoes? in many colors?
what the f*** was she thinking?
I mean blackface issues aside, did no one on her team tell her they were ugly and it looked like she went crazy with a glue gun and mr potato head parts before they went into production?
Perry did decide to pull on her own, without people finding it an having to call for its removal. minor difference, though it does make me wonder...is her production team, and her designer consultants so lacking in diversity that no one said "um this looks questionable" or if there are minorities on the team do they feel so unlistened to and unable to speak up that they thought speaking up would be held against them?
and holding things against people, is showing implicit biases/racism.
I think that is probably more where our country is more implicit biases, that outright racism and sexism. I mean it has improved a lot since jim crow, but it's still not fixed.
ETA: that implicit bias thing is pretty rampant in my field, and we have "run off" a lot of BIPOC, simply because they are tired of the constant barrage of microaggressions that actually interfere in doing their job. Or sometimes the aggression is not so micro, a black woman was verbally attacked in a profession association meeting and people just stayed silent and let it happen, and then when the lawyers got involved they tried to protect the white male attacker.
