I did. I did the 23andme and totally believe the results were more or less correct based on what I know of my family history.

It came back showing 48.8% Ashkenazi jewish (zero surprise there) and most of the rest just "northern and western European" which was no surprise either. A long lost cousin that my father never really even knew about contacted him a couple years ago and she located him through her research into her family history and genealogy and said they were distant relatives based on some common ancestor a few hundred years ago. She said she had found records of our family going back to Spain during the Inquisition, and lo and behold my DNA results came back showing a small percentage of lineage from the Iberian peninsula.

It was interesting and a fun thing for me, but it didn't really reveal anything I didn't know already.

The results don't get super granular or pinpoint much but for what they are, I think they're generally right.
