And have you ever moved up within that company? The longest I've worked for a single employer is 5.5 years giving out free food at Sam's Club. I didn't work for Sam's though; i worked for their contractor. And no, I never been promoted that entire time. In fact, I never moved to management position in any company I've ever worked for. You?

17 years
Promotions, moved around, changing/increasing responsibilities, pseudo-supervisory -and that's about as close to management as I care to get.

That's great. I'll just have to see how long I last at my current job of 1.5 years. I really need to beat my old record.

If the United States Military counts, then I’m 6 years and counting. 4 years active and I’m in 2nd year of inactive duty.

3.5 years, away 9 months, then 20 more years in Jan. 5 total “promotions”. I have one more I could get, without changing categories.

I might just “retire” in 5ish years and go somewhere else.

I've had only one career appointment since graduating from Uni, so the longest would be 2005 - 2011.

We won't include the period between 2011 - 2013 so the arrival of the mini tsunami in April 2013 started my second career as a parent. 5 years and counting. And don't anybody try to argue that being a mum doesn't count as full time work.

As much as I respect full time mothers it is not a job, yes it's hard work and thankless but it's still not a job. I myself like many others are a single parent (2 children) who still manages to work a full time 40 hour job.

4 years in the Marine Corps. Every other job I've averaged 2 - 3 years since, I always get promoted at least once. I usually end up with small companies where I've hit the ceiling so I move on. Currently self employed and thinking about a full time career on top of that so I can get some big household projects done.

With jobs like Sam's Club contractors - were you expecting to get promotion or move up? I've done retail contract jobs as a side gig before but I knew there is 0% chance of promotion, they are designed to churn and burn.

I worked for a hotel for two and a half years. That's the longest I've ever been with one company.

The hotel was a Sheraton hotel owned by Fine Hotels. They sold the hotel to another company just before I left the hotel.
