Mitchell was a deserved winner of Charlie but big Maxie should have finished closer than 8 votes...and whilst Brayshaw had a good season there's no way he was more influential at Melbourne than Maxie.

Stick Gaff and Nic Nat into the WCE team and I would just about back them in. Unfortunately they are both missing and without them i reckon the eagles are no better than 45%.

Will never understand why the AFL feels the need to have overseas acts performing at the GF. Pre match entertainment should be restricted to Aussie acts...preferably those that actually follow the footy.

What a cracking GF. In front of over 100,000 people the result was in doubt until around 5-8 secs to go.

All credit to WC. They had too very experienced and high quality mid fielders retire a the end of last season. They then lost Nic Nat and Gaff. Had to travel to the G to take on the pies who play there regularly. They then recovered from a 5 goal to nil start to win a real nail biter.

Should also make note of Brad Sheppard who also missed with injury.

Was really nice to see Dom Sheed slot home a goal with 1.47 left on the clock. He snagged a sausage roll from a tight angel with an old fashioned drop punt.

Sheed's goal also came about after he took the fourth mark in succession for the weagles. It therefore seemed only appropriate that he should score the winning goal on the back of 4 marks as West Coast were dominant in the air after 1/4 time.

McGovern had another big game. If he had missed through injury I doubt west coast would have saluted at the end.

Collingwood's Grand Final record now stands at 15-27 and two draws.

Hutchings really did a number on Sidebottom in the opening half.

Darling had a very ordinary opening half but was very good in the third. Will be thankful that the soda he dropped in the dying moments didnt prove costly.
