Two Scotsmen, Hamish and his pal Angus were sitting in a bar discussing Hamish's forthcoming wedding.
"How are the preparations going?" asked Angus.
"Aye, they're coming along nicely," replied Hamish. "The invitations have been sent, I've got my best man and I've arranged my stag night. And I've even bought a kilt to be married in."
""A kilt?" said Angus. "You'll look very smart, I'm sure. What's the tartan?"
"Och," replied Hamish, "I'll imagine she'll just be wearing a white dress."

I don't know much about Scotland, so I expect that is why I don't understand this joke. Maybe somebody will explain it.

Tartan is the type of pattern on the kilt.

The catch is the groom thinks the question is "What is the tart (aka bride) in"

I'm not Scottish but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express!

I didn't get the joke either, I look up the reference of the pattern of the skirt. I didn't get the white of the shirt. I think shirt is a virgin.

I am look on google on " scottish skirts " with the square patterns, maybe men wear them. I don't think that certain patterns of the skirts make the men gay.

I need go to Scotland, ask farm animals, if it is true or not.

Scottish women in Scottish shirts are call " lassies ". they really look in shirts.

" damn, lassie, tell timmy, stopping getting drunk and falling in the well. lassie, timmy in 80's, the tv show off the air since 60's. tell timmy, climb his sorry a** out the well himself, we ain't going help that bum anymore!

- no. 1 fan club of timmy and lassie

ps. we still love you, june lockheart!

So the humor comes from the double meaning of the phrase, tart in. Sort of rude, but funny.
