Right, i agree. The soul and spirit are the same thing. Tell mr what they do that couldn't be credited to the mind.

experience

How do you figure?

I've always considered experience something that happens to you. What do you consider it? The things we learm through experience is gained through our minds.

I am going to have to think on this one. I will just ramble on here and see if I accidentally say something.
The Self is a phenomena.
The self is perceived as properties of a being.

The self is both the perceiver and the perceived. The experiencer and that which is experienced.

Sorry, not much of a ramble. I can't seem to concentrate any more. Maybe it is the result of the medications that I am on or maybe I have that old-timers disease. Whatever it is it is frustrating.

the self is the body.

without the body, where would the mind and the spirit go?

the mind need to something to contain itself receive and preceieve to survive.

the mind need to contain in a shell to work, without a shell. the spirit would be everywhere, you wouldn't have a spirit. the body contain the spirit.

with the mind, the spirit wouldn't develop within you. the body of yours, the spirit would be contain.

in the sense, the mind and the body is real, but your spirit is not real. is a belief that come a thought and your consciousness than manifest within you. that you think is real, but some ways, it is a illusion.

I think " experience " is like a teacher's aid to the mind.

if you think that experience, you learn from it. in many ways, your mind can't automatically develop an experience.

an experience is outside event or your mind is a witness something that your mind can produce or manipulate that your mind is processing to understand it.

that is what we call an experience.

TZ: an experience is outside event or your mind is a witness something that your mind can produce or manipulate that your mind is processing to understand it.

Proposition: the mind creates that which is experienced.

Proposition: the soul is that which experiences

TZ: in many ways, your mind can't automatically develop an experience.

Proposition: the mind cannot automatically develop an experience

Proposition: the mind creates experience

E: the way I picture it the mind creates that which is experienced by the soul.

E: that which is experienced and the experiencer are entities

E: that which is experience and the experiencer are a polarity (complementary opposites) of the soul.

E: the soul

C: The "self" is the individual;

E: I say that the self is an entity. I believe we mean the same thing.

C: The self is the sentient being.

E: the way that I express it is that the self is an entity. The self is the entity that that makes an entity sentient.

Comment: Entities exist. That which exists is an entity. That which is an entity exists. entity <=> existence.

Comment: there are two kinds of entity. There are physical entities. There are non-physical entities.

Comment: there are two kinds of physical entities. There are animate physical entities called beings. There are inanimate physical entities called things.

Comment: there are two kinds of beings. there are sentient beings. there are insentient entities.

Comment: It is the soul that makes sentient entities sentient.

Comment: the soul is the essence of sentient beings. If a being has a soul it is sentient. If a being has no soul it is not sentient.

C: Each [sentient being] has characteristics.

E: I use the word properties. I believe we mean the same thing.

C: ...characteristics are unique to the specific being

E: that is how I understand it.

C: Some characteristics are common to groups of sentient beings

E: yes

C: Some characteristics are common to all sentient beings.

E: yes. I believe I understand.

C: The "self" is comprised of these characteristics.

E: I believe we agree

C: It really is just a word used to describe you or me or anyone or (to my way of thinking) any sentient being.

E: yes

C: Some would, no doubt, prefer to limit the word "self" only to humans or to "higher" more evolved animals.

E: Hmmm.... That will take some more thinking....
