From my own experiences (which I've posted here quite a few times) while in a contiguous state during sleep or meditation it seems that I'm randomly popping up in others also currently in that sort of trance.
Not intentionally of course and what it looks like to me is that some people are well aware of the science and share art back and forth with each other.
My partner has heard me go off twice in my sleep; once shouting in clear Muslim (*Translation* "Please, Allah! Not the Banana! You said only the fire!" ) and another time I was giving safety instructions to passengers on a plane directing their attention to the fire extinguishers.
If someone could've warned me about this early in life it would've saved me thousands on docs and anti-psychotics while trying to figure out what the f*** was going on.
But if you're looking for 'demons' or 'deities' I don't believe you will ever find any.
