I recently finished my 'A' level and now I have nothing to do as I'm waiting for my results to be released. I want to further my studies in civil engineering but I don't know what I can do to in the meantime to help myself.

Go take a shower or a bath. Get dressed and head on down to the tea shop. Enjoy a cup of tea. Then, have another.

Repeat this process, daily, until you finally have to urinate.

Is a degree the next step up from an A Level in Nepal?

Bachelor but I'm not that confident so I'm going to through diploma first.

So you do actually know what you plan to do next?

If you really want to help yourself prepare for studying civil engineering, you might wish to acquire a few books that would deal with the various aspects of that field of study.

I would suggest looking for a text on Statics. If you cannot locate any available hardcopies of current publications, there would be no harm in looking at, and studying, any available free documents, like

Statics for Beginners, from the Googlebook Collection. This is downloadable as a PDF-file, and will keep you entertained for many an hour. It will assist greatly in your future studies.

The same could be said of any text on Reinforced Concrete.

Fundamentals, from 1916, is also a free text,...

But, this latter would also require that you be familiar with the
Strength of Materials,...

...such as this one, free and downloadable.... Naturally, this one would not contain any of the newer materials that may have been developed in the last 100 years, but at least it will give you a head start, so that you will know what to be looking for!

With all of this, you cannot neglect the necessity of familiarization with mathematics, Calculus and the like, but to whisk yourself into the present, you should look at Computing in Civil Engineering, too!

Good luck. I wish you an empty bladder.
