So is it the industry or the easy valence of +3 which made my life good and worthy for the progress of mankind? Nickel Oxide at least once was produced in vast amounts at the Sudbury smelting plant, particularly at the Fluid Bed Roasting Division. Nickel Sulphide, which is or at least was toxic in it's distribution after smelting, was roasted much as one would roast coffee inside a giant heater container oven with air thermodynamically shot up through the gaseous (i forgot; adiabatic insulated, or something like that) isolation oxygen loaded. actually it was often produced into pellets then.

And the sulfur dioxide was disposed into the Copper Cliff sunrising atmosphere; or was it passed somehow by chimney, soot falling all over the five floors of the division plant, and all of the night shift being swept from the floors, and washed down by the hosing of that year usually summer students. Hiding for the cosmetic appearance was important to some workers by sweeping the stuff under the rugs. That was the way of being responsible, and God connected us the wiling world of the massive project of chemical reactions for ' their ' responsibility working together like the glue of Adam Smith which made 'God' available to the invisible hand.

At least a shop steward explained to me that way, at least that was the way it was in 1978.
