sociology novice needs help... good essay question?

I started studying Sociology and have to pick a concept, formulate a question and write to it.

1. Could you someone please tell me if this is a decent question (I really don't want to screw up on my first paper)

2. Is this question grammatically correct. I'm not a narrative English speaker.

My concept: culture

My question:
How is Canada as a multicultural nation able to create a unique cultue after the immigration wave to the late 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century?

I'm kind of afraid I won't have to say too much other than saying they picked things from different countries.....

I would be very happy if someone give an opinion to that....

First, are you assuming that Canada presently has a unique culture? If so, your question could be this:

As a multi-cultural nation, how does Canada create a unique culture after the immigration wave of the late 19th to the beginning of the 20th century?

If you are not assuming that Canada has created or presently maintains a unique culture, this may be a better way to phrase your question:

As a multi-cultural nation, can Canada create a unique culture after the immigration wave of the late 19th to the beginning of the 20th century?
