It's all about the music, the music is what started it. Without the music people who be calling themselves goth wouldn't be goths they would be calling themselves like rabbits or something. People called the music goth, and then the follwers of that style of music were called goths its that simple.

Yes it is a state of mind, and imagery, and art, and darker things in life. But the term wouldnt be here for people to use freely to describe themselves and others if it wern't for the music.
