Was playing a game, came off and every single process crashed at once, i tried to launch avg again so i could see if it was a virus but that told me that it's "side by side configuration" was incorrect.
On linux now, want to get back onto windows, will try safemode while i wait for a reply.

What platform are you using(windows)? Depending on the OS, when you crank up your system, instead of going into safe mode, try the "debugging mode". That may help.
Also, some games allow you to fix problems such as this from the install disk...Were you on line when this happened?
You may need a firewall. It sounds as if someone messed with the settings remotely...A good, free one that I stand by is Sygate.
Good luck, and I hope I was able to help.

I just discovered that Acer has some sort of restore to factory settings thing which suits me down to the ground...
without GRUB i would never have known it existed as well.
So I now have a brand new copy of windows and i guess i will just need to look after this one :P

Before you start loading everything back in, make a copy of the OS.That way, all of the proper settings will be handy for you, without wiping everything out.
